Flash flooding impacts several state parks in Minnesota
Minnesota State Parks and Trails warn visitors to check alerts to stay updated on conditions.
FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - Heavy rainfall has caused flash flooding in southeastern Minnesota, impacting several state parks.
Minnesota State Parks and Trails made an announcement on social media warning visitors to check alerts on their website to stay updated on conditions.
Impacted locations include
Beaver Creek Valley State Park: the park is now closed due to high water levels. Updates about current conditions and park reopening will be available on the park webpage: mndnr.gov/beavercreek.
Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park: The Mystery Cave Unit is closed and cave tours are canceled due to high flood waters. The campground in Forestville is wet but in good condition. Some trails may close, so watch for signs in the park: mndnr.gov/forestville.

Root River State Trail: travel is not advised at this time. Heavy rainfall has caused flooding, washouts and mudslides, and crews have not been able to fully assess the damage yet: mndnr.gov/rootriver.
Other areas impacted: trails are closed in the Snake Creek and Trout Valley Forest Recreation Areas within the Richard J. Dorer Memorial Hardwood State Forest. The campground at Snake Creek is still open. Additionally, two trails for all-terrain vehicles are also closed, the Chatfield Trail and Southeast Minnesota Trail.
