Authorities say the large tanker fire in West Fargo on Sunday morning is out and Main Ave is open.

The shelter-in-place advisory is now only listed as "precautionary."

West Fargo officials had said earlier that the black cloud from the fire was not dangerous but could be a concern to people with COPD. There was a hazard for people with prior health issues passing by but it was not considered to be dangerous.

There was also no explosion threat. The West Fargo Fire and Police departments issued a code-red alert for residents in a five-mile radius to shelter in place because of the tank fire. No one was hurt and there is no known cause for the fire.

In a statement from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Magellan Midstream Partners said the fire at one of its terminals was in an above-ground storage tank. It said the tank contains ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel. The storage capacity of the tank is approximately 43,000 barrels. There were approximately 30,000 barrels in the tank at the time of the fire.

The company said appropriate regulatory agencies had been notified.

Officials say this could be a long event as it will take some time for the fire to burn itself out.
