Body Found in Sheyenne River Wearing Clothing Similar to Missing Snowmobiler

On March 31 at 11:23 AM West Fargo Police Officers were dispatched to the report of a possible body in the Sheyenne River along Goldenwood Drive in West Fargo.

Two flooring installers were searching a wooded area for wood burls when they spotted the object in the water. Officers confirmed the reported sighting.

The Valley Water Rescue dive team and the West Fargo Fire Department assisted in the recovery. The body has been sent to Grand Forks for an autopsy and positive identification. The autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.

The clothing on the body appeared similar to what was worn by Cole Schwindt when he went missing while snowmobiling on the Sheyenne River December 2, 2014. Schwindt, 34, was from Moorhead.

Search efforts at that time had continued until December 12th when ice conditions prevented further operations. The body was recovered approximately 800 yards downstream of where Schwindt was believed to have entered the water.
