ST. LOUIS (NDSU Athletics) -- North Dakota State punter/kicker Garret Wegner was named Missouri Valley Football Conference Special Teams Player of the Week by the league office Sunday, Oct. 13. It is his first career player of the week honor.
Wegner, a junior from Lodi, Wis., averaged 50.7 yards on three punts with a season-long of 60 yards in North Dakota State's 46-14 victory over 10th-ranked Northern Iowa. Two of his three punts went inside the opposing 20-yard line.
Wegner also handled seven kickoffs including two touchbacks for the Bison, who lead the conference in net kickoff yardage at 40.8 yards per kick.
No. 1-ranked North Dakota State (6-0, 2-0 MVFC) is scheduled to host Missouri State (1-4, 1-1 MVFC) in the annual Trees Bowl game at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome.
