Two more former UND players sign pro deals

HARTFORD, Conn (UND Athletics).-- A pair of former University of North Dakota players signed professional deals recently. Nick Jones signed with the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, the top affiliate of the NHL's New York Rangers, while Hayden Shaw will join the Jacksonville Icemen, an affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, who are part of the Winnipeg Jets' organization.

Jones, an assistant captain as a senior, was among UND's leading scorers in each of his two seasons on campus. The Ohio State transfer accounted for 50 points in his 60 games in a North Dakota uniform. As a junior, Jones paced the Fighting Hawks with 15 goals and added 15 assists. This past year, Jones scored nine and chipped in 11 assists in 26 games played.

Shaw was also an assistant captain as a senior, solidifying the blue line for North Dakota. He led UND in blocked shots this season with 54, piling up 184 in his four-year career. He piled up a +33 plus/minus rating in his time at UND, scoring 10 goals and adding 27 assists.

The pair become the second and third players to sign pro deals following the end of the season with Rhett Gardner inking a two-year deal with the Dallas Stars on Tuesday.
