Timberwolves fire Thibodeau

MINNEAPOLIS (Valley News Live) -- The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Sunday that they have fired Head Coach and President of Basketball Operations Tom Thibodeau.

Thibodeau was 97-107 in his third season with the team. In 2017-18 He guided Minnesota to its first playoff appearance since the 2003-2004 season.

“We would like to thank Tom for his efforts and wish him all the best,” said Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor in a statement. "These decisions are never easy to make, but we felt them necessary to move our organization forward.”

The Timeberwolves announced Scott Layden will remain General Manager and Assistant Coach Ryan Saunders will assume the role of interim head coach for the remainder of the 2018-19 season.
