MOORHEAD, Minn. (Valley News Live) -- The Moorhead Spuds girls Nordic team made history Tuesday when they punched their ticket to the state tournament.
The team winning the Section 8 title with 376 team points. Beating out second place Brainerd, that had 365 points. Moorhead had four skiers finish in the top ten.

The Spuds were led by ninth grader Abbie Ishaug who took the individual medal. Claiming first in both the skate race and the classic race.
The Spuds boys team finishing fifth in the team standings but they will still be represented at the state tournament.
Senior Jack Lee finishing sixth overall. He becomes the first male to qualify for state in back-to-back seasons.

Moorhead rounded out the awards ceremony at Maplelag Resort with one more piece of hardware, head coach Tom Dooher named the Section 8 coach of the year for the second time in the short five seasons the program as been around.
