RedHawks take series opener

FARGO, N.D. (American Association) -- The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks slid past the Chicago Dogs 4-3 on Monday night.

The Dogs struck first in the top of the second inning as SS Stephen Perez (2-for-3) singled home both LF Tony Rosselli and RF Rubi Silva. But the RedHawks came right back in the bottom of the inning and tied things up after an RBI single from C Charlie Valerio and a sac fly from SS Yhoxian Medina that played 3B Leobaldo Pina.

DH Keruy De La Cruz gave the RedHawks the lead with his 11th home run of the season in the fourth inning, a solo shot. Chicago tied things up again in the top of the seventh with a sac fly from CF Kenny Wilson but RF Tim Colwell (2-for-4) scored the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the inning.

Colwell scored after CF Devan Ahart reached first on a dropped third strike.
