RedHawks fall late in St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. (American Association) -- Four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning propelled the St. Paul Saints (16-7) to a 7-4 win against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks.

The RedHawks took a 4-3 lead in the top of the eighth after C Daniel Comstock (2-for-2) singled home 1B T.J. Bennett (2-for-4) and 3B Leobaldo Pina scored on an error. In the bottom of the frame, LF Blake Schmit was hit by a pitch in the leadoff spot and came around to score when 2B Josh Allen (3-for-4) singled. 3B Chesny Young drew a bases-loaded walk in the next at-bat and SS Joey Wong followed with a two-RBI single to give the Saints a three-run lead.

The RedHawks put two runners in scoring position in the ninth but reliever Todd Van Steensel closed the door without allowing a run.
