Otterdahl Strengthens Case on Bowerman Watch List

NEW ORLEANS (NDSU Athletics) -- North Dakota State University senior thrower Payton Otterdahl was one of 10 men named to the pre-NCAA Indoor Championships watch list for The Bowerman – the highest individual honor in collegiate track & field.

Otterdahl made his first appearance on the prestigious list at the beginning of February, and has since solidified his place with a collegiate record in the indoor shot put. He also tops the NCAA performance list in the weight throw this season.

After throwing an all-time collegiate best 71-06.75 (21.81m) in the shot put, Otterdahl now owns three of the five best throws in NCAA indoor history. He stands fifth all-time in the NCAA in the weight throw.

He is ranked No. 2 in the world this year in the shot put.

Otterdahl claimed both Summit League titles in the throws, winning the shot put by a margin of nine and a half feet and taking the weight throw crown by more than eight and a half feet.

The latest edition of the Bowerman watch list was released Thursday, Feb. 28, by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
