North Dakota receives at-large bid to FCS Playoffs

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Valley News Live) -- The North Dakota Fighting Hawks (7-4) received an at-large bid to the 24-team FCS Playoff field.

UND will travel to Thibodaux, Louisiana and take on Nicholls State in the first round, Saturday, November 30 at 3 p.m. CT.

The Colonels (8-4) won the auto-bid as winners of the Southland Conference.

The winner will go to Fargo to take on No. 1 overall seed North Dakota St. in the second round.

On the FCS Selection Show on ESPNU, Division I Football Committee Chairman Greg Seitz revealed UND was one of the last four teams into the field and pointed to the Fighting Hawks win over Montana State as a key reason UND was included in the bracket.

The Fighting Hawks beat the Bobcats 16-12 at the Alerus Center back on October 26.
