NDSU’s Riley Dolezal Earns 3rd Trip to World Championships

FARGO, N.D. (NDSU Athletics) -- North Dakota State University alum Riley Dolezal has qualified to represent Team USA in the javelin at the IAAF World Championships for the third time.

Dolezal, a native of Stanley, N.D., and a volunteer assistant coach for the Bison track & field team, also represented the USA at the World Championships in 2013 (Moscow, Russia) and 2015 (Beijing, China).

The IAAF World Championships will be held in Doha, Qatar, from Sept. 27-Oct. 6. The men’s javelin preliminaries are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5, with the final on Sunday, Oct. 6.

Dolezal has finished in the top three in the javelin at the USATF Championships for seven consecutive years from 2013-19, capturing American titles in 2013 and 2017. He competed for NDSU from 2005-09.

Dolezal qualified for the 2019 World Championships by virtue of his runner-up finish at the USATF Championships in July and a No. 30 world ranking this year.
