DENVER – Denver outscored the North Dakota State men’s basketball team 50-29 in the second half to pull away for an 80-65 win on Wednesday night at Magness Arena.
NDSU (8-11, 2-3 Summit) led by as many as nine points in the first half and held a 36-30 advantage at halftime.
Denver (6-14, 1-5 Summit) rattled off a 10-0 run early in the second half to take its first lead of the game at 40-38 with 17 minutes remaining. The Pioneers led 54-52 with nine minutes left before a 19-5 run put the game out of reach.
Junior Ade Murkey led Denver with 18 points. The Pioneers shot 58 percent in the second half and 54 percent for the game.
Sophomores Rocky Kreuser and Cameron Hunter led the Bison with 13 and 12 points, respectively. It was Hunter’s first game action since breaking a bone in his wrist Nov. 26 at Gonzaga.
NDSU made just 6-of-22 attempts from three-point range for 27 percent.
The Bison return home to host North Dakota on Saturday at 2 p.m.
