DENVER, Colo. (NDSU Athletics) – Becca Latham connected for 11 kills and Emma Willis had five blocks as league-leading Denver defeated North Dakota State 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-13) in a Summit League volleyball match played Friday, Oct. 19, in Hamilton Gymnasium.
NDSU (5-15, 3-6 SL) is scheduled to travel to Omaha ((12-9, 7-2 SL) for a 1 p.m. match Sunday, Oct. 21, in Baxter Arena. The Mavericks lost 3-2 to Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday.
Denver (20-1, 9-0 SL), the 6th-ranked team in the VolleyballMag.com Mid-Major Poll, held off a charge from North Dakota State in the first set and pulled away for its ninth straight league win. The Pioneers outhit the Bison .193 to.-.052 in the match and held a 10-9 edge in team blocks.
Katarina Marinkovic followed Latham with nine kills, while Lydia Bartalo added eight. Tina Boe and Taylor Joachim each had four blocks to join Willis on the frontline. Ellie Anderson and Andrea Eddy combined for 33 assists, while Macy Carrabine recorded a match-high 20 digs.
Emily Halverson led North Dakota State with six kills and three blocks, while McKenzie Burke and Alexis Bachmeier each had five kills. Bella Lien had four kills and four blocks. Bachmeier led the Bison with 15 digs, while Abbi Klos added 14 digs. Kalli Hegerle had 18 assists and a pair blocks.
