Moton Finishes 20th in Javelin, Levin Gets Started in Heptathlon at NCAA Championships

AUSTIN, Texas (NDSU Athletics) -- North Dakota State freshman Akealy Moton finished 20th in the javelin at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Friday, adding an honorable mention All-America honor to go along with her first-team performance in the shot put on Thursday night.

Moton posted a throw of 144-5 (44.02m) for 20th place. She ends her freshman season ranked fourth all-time at NDSU in the javelin.

Bison senior Amanda Levin stands in 21st place after the first day of heptathlon competition, scoring 3,173 points through four events.

Levin opened with a time of 14.98 in the 100m hurdles – the fourth-fastest time of her career. She cleared 5-03.00 (1.60m) in the high jump before throwing 39-05.00 (12.01m) in the shot put for the 10th-best mark in the heptathlon field.

Levin clocked the second-fastest 200m time of her career, running 24.52 to close out Day 1.

Levin will conclude NDSU’s competition at the NCAA Championships with the final three events of the heptathlon on Saturday, beginning with the long jump at 1:30 p.m.
