Local athlete wins big at 2019 UDA College Dance Team National Championship

Orland, FL -- Former Fargo Davies standout athlete Alya Kretchman has added two College Division IA National Championships and a 4th Place finish to her resume as a Freshman member of the University of Nevada Las Vegas Rebel Girls & Company dance team. UNLV won both the “Game Day” and “Hip Hop” Division National Championships and finished 4th in “Pom” at the 2019 UDA (Universal Dance Association) College Dance Team National Championship held January 18-20th.

Kretchman was a member of Fargo Davies Elite Dance Team that won 3 state titles in North Dakota from 2016-2018. She was also a member of the 3 straight Davies State Track & Field Champions, individually winning the Pole Vault in both her Junior and Senior years setting school records at both of those meets.

Kretchman’s studio dance career at BAS Studios individual accomplishments include 4x UDA All-American, Miss Ovation 2018, and a Studio Solo National Championship. She was also a member of BAS Studios UDA All-Star National Kick Champion and Studio National Championships in both Small Group and Duet.

Alya made the UNLV dance team in the spring of 2018 becoming only one of a couple North Dakota dancers to ever make a Division 1A dance team. Entering the competition, the UNLV Rebel Girls & Company were defending National Champions in Game Day and Hip Hop, so they added two more titles to their already impressive run in the college dance world.
