SIOUX FALLS, S.D.— University of North Dakota star forward Lexi Klabo (Fargo, N.D.) was named to The All-Summit League First Team, announced Thursday by league officials. Klabo leads her new conference in points per game (18.5 ppg) and is second in rebounding (8.3 rpg) and blocked shots (1.57 bpg).
Klabo , who ranks 10th all-time at North Dakota in all-time scoring (1,608), has been a steady performer in her senior season for the Fighting Hawks. The Cheryl Miller Award finalist has churned out eight double-doubles this season—four in league play—and has scored in double figures in all but two games this year. She has etched three games of 30+ points this season and has been UND’s leading scorer 18 times in her senior campaign.
She was a First Team All-Big Sky performer as a junior and earned second team accolades in 2016-17 to give her three all-conference honors. Klabo makes it six seasons in a row that head coach Travis Brewster can claim a first team all-conference honoree.
The rest of the all-Summit League teams are being announced via facebook live from the official league account. The full list of all-league winners will be released later today.
The Fighting Hawks are the six-seed in the upcoming Summit League Championships at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. UND matches up with third-seeded Denver for a 2:30 p.m. Sunday quarterfinal meeting. The title game is slated for 1:00 p.m. Tuesday on ESPNU.
