Hendricks Named Valley Football Defensive Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS (NDSU Athletics) -- North Dakota State safety James Hendricks was named Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week by the league office Sunday, Oct. 14. It is his first career player of the week honor.

Hendricks, a junior from Bemidji, Minn., intercepted two passes and broke up another in North Dakota State’s 34-7 road win over Western Illinois. His first interception led to a Bison field goal and his second came in the end zone to keep the Leathernecks scoreless in the second half.

Hendricks made three tackles for a Bison defense that forced five turnovers and held Western Illinois to nine net rushing yards.

No. 1-ranked North Dakota State (6-0, 3-0 MVFC) is scheduled to host Illinois State (5-1, 2-1 MVFC) this Saturday, Oct. 20. Game time is 2:30 p.m. at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome.
