MACCOMB, Ill. (NDSU Athletics) -- North Dakota State junior forward Deng Geu scored a career-high 22 points to lead the Bison men’s basketball team to a 78-76 road win over Western Illinois on Saturday night.
Junior guard Vinnie Shahid added 15 points and three assists for NDSU.
The Bison trailed by as many as 13 points in the first half at 35-22, but pulled within seven at 42-35 at the half.
The game was tied at 67-67 when Shahid converted a four-point play with 4:14 remaining to put the Bison up 71-67. With NDSU leading 73-71 and under three minutes left, Cameron Hunter hit a deep, clutch three-pointer to push the margin to five.
NDSU outscored WIU 42-7 in bench points, with Hunter and Tyree Eady both scoring 10 points to go along with Geu’s 22.
Kobe Webster and CJ Duff both scored 21 points for Western Illinois.
The Bison shot 61 percent in the second half and went 12-for-28 (43 percent) from three-point range for the game.
