FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) -- The Fargo Force take home ice this weekend with a 1-1 record after a weekend in Pittsburgh opened the new season.
They are combining nine guys from last year's playoff roster with some fresh faces from trades and the USHL draft. Now begins the process of fostering a fresh identity. Something head coach Cary Eades admits will take some time as they shape their personality and find their pulse for the consistency needed to have success in the USHL.
"Even though we do have some returners back and players that played elsewhere around the league, it's a brand new team," Eades said. "There are new opportunities for guys and we're looking for people to improve and step forward as the season develops."
The Force open the home schedule on Friday as part of a two game weekend series with Sioux Falls.
"I'm really excited. Obviously we have Sioux Falls coming in. A big rival of ours and we're all really fired up to get them in the building here and have a good week of practice to prepare for that," said goaltender Ryan Bischel.
The returning players on this Force roster are especially eager to get back to Scheels Arena and in front of the loyal fan base for this rivalry series.
"I mean we're playing our rivals, Sioux Falls, and I think that gets everybody on edge a little bit," added forward AJ Drobot. "They're coming to our building. We're definetly going to be looking forward to it."
