The Fighting Hawks picked up a 41-14 win over No. 22 Montana this past Saturday. Montana fell from both the STATS FCS and AFCA FCS Coaches Polls, while UND remains on the outside looking in.
North Dakota (4-2) received 271 votes to remain just outside the Top 25 in the STATS FCS poll and 37 votes in the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll. Both vote totals put UND in the 26th spot.
"Obviously we talk about it, maybe a little bit, but we don't pay much attention to it," junior wide receiver Noah Wanzek said Monday. "They aren't in our practices or meetings and they don't know what we're capable of."
UND has two wins over ranked teams this season. The win over Montana comes just under a month after the Fighting Hawks beat then-ranked No. 5 Sam Houston State in Huntsville, Texas.
Fighting Hawks head coach Bubba Schweigert called the polls at this point "outside noise."
"We've really got to stay focused for our team for how we prepare, how we perform, and those things," Schweigert said. "I always say this: it's great for FCS football that there's polls and a lot of talk about playoff scenarios and that but for us we need to focus on our preparation."
