GRAND FORKS, N.D. (UND Athletics) -- Mimi Eiden scored the golden goal in the 104th minute as the University of North Dakota defeated Hawai'i in double overtime, 2-1.
Freshman Bailey McNitt won possession of the ball just over the midfield line and began dribbling away from a UH defender. As she advanced, she threaded a 10-yard pass between a pair of defenders where only Eiden could collect it.
With space to dribble and room to force the keeper off her line, the junior dribbled the ball in the box and fired the ball to the outside post for the match-winner.
North Dakota forced overtime with an equalizing goal in the 88th minute of regulation when Ashley Ebeling received a cross from Meghan Wilson and rocketed it into the side netting to tie the match, 1-1. The Fighting Hawks were poised to score in the second half as they outshot Hawai'i in the period, 9-4.
The Rainbow Wahine went on the board just before halftime as McKenzie Moore lobbed a ball towards the net that deflected off a North Dakota defender and past Catherine Klein in net to break the scoreless duct in the match.
The double-overtime victory marked UND's second of the season. It was also the Fighting Hawks second come from behind win of the season, improving them to 4-1-1. Hawai'i, who defeated North Dakota State on Sunday, fell to 2-3-1.
The University of North Dakota will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 10 when it hosts Minot State at Bronson Field. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
