FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) -- North Dakota State Senior Linebacker Nick DeLuca has accepted an invitation to the Reese’s Senior Bowl.
The annual event is a showcase for NFL coaches, scouts, and general managers to get a look at the upcoming college prospects with several practices culminating in a game.
DeLuca returned to the Bison in 2017 for a fifth season after getting a medical hardship in 2016 due to a shoulder injury. DeLuca was the only FCS player to be on the Butkus Award watch list, presented annually to the top linebacker in college football, at the start of the 2016 season. He returned to the watch list in 2017.
DeLuca ranks second on the Bison defense with 51 total tackles in 2017. He’s also collected six tackles for loss and two-and-a-half sacks.
DeLuca will become the seventh former Bison to take part in the event. Carson Wentz and Joe Haeg attended the Senior Bowl in 2016. Wide Receiver Stacy Robinson (1985), running back Lamar Gordon (2002), punter Mike Dragosavich (2008) and offensive lineman Billy Turner (2014) have also appeared in the Senior Bowl.
This year’s Reese’s Senior Bowl game will be Saturday, January 27 in Mobile, Alabama with coverage on the NFL Network.
