MOORHEAD, Minn. (Valley News Live) -- The Concordia Cobbers football team is winding down the first week of practice and Tuesday the Cobbers met with the media to discuss the upcoming season.
And what a season it will be – at least looking at the schedule. The Cobbers will open the season on the road at Wisconsin-La Crosse before opening the home portion of the schedule against six-time National Champion Wisconsin-Whitewater.
"Non-conference is so important to prepare us for our league. When you start now with a Wisconsin-La Crosse at their place, a playoff type contender type team and then Whitewater. I mean six of the last 12 national titles have gone to them, you know, that's huge for us,” Cobber Head Coach Terry Horan said.
“But they're there for a reason. They're there to prepare us for our league because that's the most important part of our season."
Horan called the two non-conference games the toughest it’s been. He’s now entering his 19th season as the head coach at Concordia.
The Cobbers ended 2018 5-5 and return four starters on each side of the ball.
