FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) -- The college football season is finally upon us as the Bison prepare for their home opener Saturday.
NDSU is set to host Big Sky contender Cal Poly this weekend as the Bison kick off another campaign to Frisco.
With a banner to be raised in celebration and the excitement of game one at home in front of the passionate Bison faithful, expectations are high.
But head coach Chris Klieman knows week one won't come without it's hiccups.
"We know we're going to have some young guys make some mistakes and part of that is going to be anxiety and nervousness," Klieman said Monday. "But I know our crowd is going to be in to it, I know our crowd is going to be electric."
The Bison haven't lost a season opener at home since 1998 and have won 12 of 14 season openers as a Division I program.
"Always those first games are exciting because it's been a long time since we've hosted a football game at the FargoDome, since last December. I know how special it is for our players and how special it is for our fans."
