FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) -- The Bison have selected six players to be captains for the 2018 season.
Seniors Bruce Anderson, Robbie Grimsley, Levi Jordheim, Aaron Steidl, Darrius Shepherd and Easton Stick were named captains as voted by their teammates.
Shepherd and Stick both served as captains in 2017. Stick has been a captain since 2016 when he was voted in as a sophomore.
Stick is returning for his fourth-year as a starter for the Bison. He is coming off his most productive season having completed 62-percent of his passes for 2,466 yards and 28 touchdowns.
Shepherd is one of four senior wide receivers on the roster this season. He caught 41 passes for 559 yards last year.

Anderson emerges from the deep running back group as a first-time captain. He was the only back to remain healthy and play in all 15 games last year. Ultimately leading the Bison with 1,216 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns.
He was selected to the STATS FCS Preseason All-America first team, alongside fellow senior captain Robbie Grimsley.
Grimsley is one of three starters returning to the Bison backfield. A two-time all-conference first team pick and 2017 All-American, Grimsley was third on the team with 69 tackles and led the Bison with 12 passes defended and four interceptions.
Steidl brings leadership from a depth heavy defensive line. In all seven regulars return from last year. Steidl was a second team all-conference pick last year and had 32 tackles and eight hurries for a defensive unit that ranked first in the FCS in total defense.
Dickinson, North Dakota native Levi Jordheim joins the Bison as a captain this year as he returns from a season ending knee injury last year. The linebackers were led by current NFL prospect Nick DeLuca and then freshman Jabril Cox last year. Jordheim missed five games late in the season, along with fellow senior Dan Marlette who made two starts before suffering a season-ending knee injury in the fourth game of the year.
