FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) -- One of the tasks the Bison football team is hoping to accomplish during fall camp is identifying a vocal leader on the defensive side of the ball.
Head Coach Chris Klieman said after the team’s first practice Friday he’s hoping to find someone to provide the same leadership style that All-American safety Tre Dempsey provided the last several seasons.
With Dempsey gone to graduation, Klieman said it’s time for another player’s voice to be heard.
"We've got a lot of really quiet leaders on defense,” Klieman said. “But they hold each other accountable and I'm excited about that side of the ball. We have a number of guys that have played an awful lot of snaps that we'll challenge as we move forward to make sure that they're holding everyone accountable."
Klieman mentioned safety Robbie Grimsley and defensive linemen Aaron Steidl and Greg Menard as well as a few of the linebackers as potential guys to take on the vocal leader role.
