Bison defense welcomes road trip

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) -- The Bison are hitting the road this weekend for their first business trip of the season. They will take on the University of Northern Iowa inside the UNI-Dome.

No easy task.

The Bison are 2-3 inside UNI's dome since joining the Missouri Valley Football Conference in 2008.

Still it offers some relief to NDSU's defense.

While the FargoDome is everyone's favorite place to be, the Bison defensive leaders will tell you the road offers it's own positives.

"One, just cause you can silence a crowd and get them out of the game if you make a big play on defense," said senior safety Rob Grimsley. "But also we're able to communicate a lot easier on defense."

"I know that was definetly a struggle for us last week," Grimsley explained. "Just because, I mean I love how awesome our crowd is, it causes big problems for their offense but it just makes it more difficult on us. It helps us calm down a little more, helps us be able to communicate a little easier when we're on the road. I think once you get that added bonus, if we make a big play, if we get a big start, it really silences their crowd and i think it really gets us going."

The Bison kick off Saturday at 1:00 p.m. on the KVLY and KFYR Bison Football Network. Coverage begins at noon with the Farmers Union Insurance Bison Football Pregame Show.
