SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (NDSU Athletics) -- he North Dakota State men’s basketball team scored the first 15 points after halftime and outscored Oral Roberts by 18 points in the second half to pull away for an 86-73 victory in the quarterfinals of the Summit League Tournament on Sunday evening.
Oral Roberts made 12 of its first 13 shots, and the Bison fell behind by as many as 13 points early in the first half. NDSU stormed back with a 21-7 run on seven three-pointers – four from Cameron Hunter, two by Jordan Horn, and one by Jared Samuelson – to take a 36-33 lead.
Oral Roberts led 48-43 at halftime, but the Bison scored the first 15 points of the second half to go ahead 58-48.
After ORU shot 67 percent in the opening half, the Bison limited the Golden Eagles to 20-percent shooting in the second half.
NDSU junior Tyson Ward led all scorers with 25 points, hitting 11-of-13 at the free throw line to go with five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Samuelson and Hunter joined Ward in double figures at 15 and 13 points, respectively, as Hunter buried four 3-pointers and Samuelson hit three.
Rocky Kreuser finished with eight points and a team-high eight rebounds.
The Bison shot 59.5 percent for the game and made 10-of-20 from beyond the arc.
The No. 4 seed Bison will take on No. 8 seed Western Illinois in the semifinals at 6 p.m. on Monday.
