FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) -- The Bison enter the final week of Spring Football with their 12th of 15 practices Monday.
If it were up to head coach Chris Klieman they'd have more.
"It's never quite where you want it to be. There's always a lot of work to do."
Klieman spoke with us Friday after his team's second scrimmage of the spring.
He said the focus of the scrimmage was working on specific situations -- primarily redzone and third down.
"Things that we maybe struggled with last year that we've put an emphasis on this year especially third down. Third and medium is one of those areas that we think we need to improve on."
Defensively the Bison ranked 83rd on third downs. Yielding a first down just over 40 percent of the time (40.4%).
"We've really tried to stress that as much as we can in practice."
As for the final week of practice it's about finishing strong.
"Our installation is done. So now its the younger guys, making sure they understand our base installation offense, defense, and moving themselves forward."
"Our older guys of just continuing to work on the situations of the game, the things we need to get better at. We're going to go hard again Monday and Wednesday. We have a light one Friday and then the Spring Game Saturday."
The annual Green and Gold Spring Game will be broadcast statewide on the KVLY KFYR Bison Football Network. Coverage begins April 22nd at 12:30.
