Big Second Quarter Helps Omaha Defeat North Dakota State, 80-67

OMAHA, Neb. (NDSU Athletics) -- The Omaha Mavericks outscored the North Dakota State University women's basketball team, 25-11, in the second quarter to help them claim an 80-67 victory over the Bison Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Baxter Arena.

NDSU (8-12, 1-5 Summit League) was led by sophomore Reilly Jacobson, who scored 18 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Fellow sophomore Rylee Nudell added 13 points, respectively.

The Bison shot 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point range, but were outrebounded by the Mavs, 38-26, including a 23-6 margin in offensive rebounds. NDSU also reached the free-throw line just three times in the game.

North Dakota State jumped out to 24-16 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Omaha (9-10, 1-6 Summit League) responded though, and used an 11-0 run at the end of the second quarter to gain a 41-35 advantage going into halftime. The Bison would get no closer than eight the remainder of the game.

Amber Vidal led four Mavericks in double figures with 21 points, while Alicia Mountain and Courtney Vaccher each snagged eight boards.

Omaha shot 47 percent from the floor and 37 percent from beyond the arc, and converted 13 of 18 foul shots for 72 percent.

North Dakota State is scheduled to conclude the first half of Summit League play with a contest at Western Illinois Saturday, Jan. 27, at 4:30 p.m.
