Why are the Interstates closed? DOT officials explain

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) The North Dakota Highway Patrol says stranded drivers have forced them to close portions of I-94.

I-94 Eastbound is closed from Bismarck to Valley City, and Westbound I-94 from Fargo to Bismarck.

Highway 2 is also closed Eastbound and Westbound from Rugby to Larimoure.

Capt. Bryan Niewind says they had to close roads due to the available resources for stranded motorists.

He adds, drivers who are not able to continue west thorough Barnes, Stutsman, and Kidder counties may not be able to access hotel rooms, parking, or restaurants if this becomes an extended closure.

Travelers are urged to continue to monitor road conditions on the North Dakota Travel Information Map. _______________________________
