Thursday morning the West Fargo Public School District, specifically Sheyenne High School and West Fargo High School, were being associated with a scam targeting area businesses.

The school district says a company claiming to be Sports Media Network is targeting local businesses by soliciting payments over the phone.

The scammer claims that by paying a few hundred dollars, that business would be marketed during sporting events, on t-shirts and on building signage.

The district says that this is not a legitimate offer associated with them, or any of their schools, teams, facilities, or staff.

West Fargo Public Schools has spoken with a local company of a similar name, Magnitude Sports Media Network, to inform them of a scammer potentially claiming to be them.

West Fargo Public Schools requires that any district-affiliated group (teams, classes, PTO/PTA, booster clubs, etc.) complete fundraiser registration paperwork through their Business Department and comply with the district’s fundraising policy.

If you are a business-owner who has been targeted and contributed money to this scam, you are asked to contact the West Fargo Police Department at (701) 433-5500.
