Video shows four vehicles driving past Bemidji school bus trying to let kids off

The Bemidji Police Department posted a video to their Facebook page showing several cars passing by a school bus after it had already been stopped. In the reflection on the windshield, you can see the bus driver waits to open the door until all of the cars have passed.

The police department is asking the community if they have seen the news lately; adding that tragic bus accidents have happened world wide within the last couple weeks. Police say stop arm violations are happening everywhere, even in Bemidji.

This video was taken on November 2nd just after 3:00 pm in Bemidji. The video shows a total off four vehicles traveling through the stop arm of the school bus. The bus driver kept the children on the bus until it was safe for them to get off.

Police say yellow lights indicate the bus is preparing to stop to load or unload children and that you should slow down and prepare to stop.

Flashing red lights and extended stop arms indicate the bus has stopped and children are getting on or off. Motorists are to stop their cars and wait until the red lights stop flashing and until the stop arm is back up.
