Fargo, N.D. (Valley News Live) 1. Elim Care residents relocated after nursing home fire
People living at Elim Care in South Fargo are safe and sound after a fire broke out at the nursing home. The call for the fire came in around 3 Thursday afternoon. Flames could be seen shooting from the roof. Residents were quickly evacuated and no one was hurt. Part of the roof has since collapsed and crews are trying to figure out how it started.
2. Nationwide manhunt for North Dakota man accused of raping child
Police across the country are on the lookout for a North Dakota man who's accused of sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl. 36-year-old Roberto Alvarez is charged with two counts of aggravated rape. Alvarez is originally from Minto, ND, but has connections to the Fargo-Moorhead and Grand Forks areas. He also goes by the names Roberto Sanchez and Carlos Sanchez.
3. Thieves steal valuables from local gym parking lots, may be tied to "Felony Lane Gang"
Police are warning people to hide their valuables after a string of smash-and-grab burglaries in Fargo. Police say it's connected to the Felony Lane Gang. Area gyms and daycares were hit by the thieves. Police say seven people have been arrested in connection to this gang from Florida to North Dakota.
4. Flood outlook shows major flooding expected in Red River Valley
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says major flood risk is likely for spring 2020 up and down the Red River Valley. The NOAA says this comes after the wettest fall period on record and lots of snow so far this winter. The Red River at Fargo has a 50 percent chance of getting to 35.9 feet. The river at Grand Forks has a 50 percent chance of getting to 48.8 feet.
5. Foggy start for some on Friday morning
A dense fog advisory is in effect for much of the area this morning. The roads are also slick again this morning with some ice coating the roads. Otherwise, more mild temperatures expected today and into the weekend. Enjoy these mild temps while they last!
