Fargo Police set record straight on intense traffic stop

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) Fargo Police Department released a dash cam video to clarify a traffic stop that ended with a broken window and the suspect screaming and lunging at officers.

Police say they released the video after other local media outlets published misinformation about the situation.

According to police, the incident started as a traffic stop around 9th Ave. and 42nd St. on July 15.

Police are seen in the video trying to pull over the suspect's car, but he keeps going.

Eventually, authorities get out of their squad cars and approach the suspect's vehicle. He's seen backing up as officers approach.

The officers continuously ask the suspect to roll down his window and get out of the car. The suspect does not comply and says he does not have any weapons. Eventually, the car window is broken and the suspect is forcibly removed.

When officers bring the suspect to another squad car, he screams 'What the f**l?!' at police among other expletives. At one point, the suspect lunges at officers, knocking them to the ground.

The suspect then hits his face on a light pole, causing the injuries you see in the mugshot.

26-year-old Abraham Nyei was arrested and is facing charges of fleeing an officer in a vehicle, preventing arrest, and possession of marijuana.
