Two Forum Communications newspapers serving major North Dakota communities are now going paperless.

The Jamestown Sun and Grand Forks Herald will discontinue some printed publications and go fully digital in September.

Rob Keller, Jamestown Sun Publisher, wrote in an editorial to readers that subscribers will instead see a Monday electronic edition delivered to their inbox.

Korrie Wenzel, Grand Forks Herald Publisher, says only Monday editions of the daily paper will take on a digital format, but printed papers will continue Tuesday through Sunday.

The newspaper industry across the US has been hit hard by the decline of advertising and readership forcing lay-offs and cut backs to print editions.

We have reached out to managers at Forum Communications' headquarters in Fargo for a comment but have not heard back.
