BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (KARE 11) -- The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in Brooklyn Park in which a car travelling the wrong way slammed into another car.

The crash happened just before 8 p.m. Saturday. The State Patrol says a Hyundai Elantra was traveling southbound on Highway 252 in Brooklyn Park and a Toyota Sequoia was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes. The Toyota hit the Hyundai head-on, killing the driver of the Hyunda.

Authorities identified the driver of the Hyundai as 30-year-old Jenna Lynn Bixby of Nowthen.

Minneapolis city officials said Bixby was a 911 dispatcher for Minneapolis and was on her way to work when she was killed.

The driver of the Toyota, a 72-year-old man from Blaine, was transported to North Memorial Medical Center and his injuries were listed as life-threatening, according to the State Patrol.

Authorities say "alcohol is suspected to be a factor with the wrong-way driver."

The crash is under investigation.
