GLADSTONE, N.D. (VNL) The North Dakota Highway Patrol responded to a vehicle fire on Interstate 94 yesterday afternoon that shut westbound lanes down for four hours.
Hay bales being hauled by a semi truck started on fire 3 miles east of Gladstone.The driver of the semi was able to disconnect his truck from the trailers and was not injured in the fire. Both the Gladstone and Taylor Fire Departments responded to the scene.
The westbound lanes of Interstate 94 were closed at the Taylor exit. Traffic was re-routed to Old Highway 10 to the Gladstone exit during the closure. The eastbound lanes of Interstate 94 were not shut down during this incident. The westbound lanes of Interstate 94 were shut down for approximately four hours until the fire was extinguished and the scene was cleared.
The Stark County Sheriff’s Department and the North Dakota Department of Transportation assisted with the closure and the re-route of westbound traffic.
