Sargent County Sheriff says 71-year-old man was killed in farming accident
(Update 2:59 p.m.) - The Sargent County Sheriff is identifying a 71-year-old man as the victim of Wednesday’s farming accident.
Emergency responders were sent to rural Brampton, North Dakota for a report of a man who was trapped in a grain bin containing corn, according to the Sargent County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident was first noticed by a local farmer driving pass a bin site.
Deputies said the farmer looked into the bin after finding a running grain auger and saw indications that someone loading corn was trapped inside.
Emergency personnel and area residents pulled the man from the bin, but lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and he won't be identified until his family is notified, according to Sargent County Sheriff Travis Paeper.
The accident remains under investigation.
