Sanford Health talks about new Women's Center in Fargo
In Wednesday's "HealthierMe" making decisions about your health care are tough, but they're some of the most important decisions in your life.
Sanford Health has a new Women's Center in Fargo to help ease the stress, and help you navigate through your health plan options.
Joining us to talk Wednesday about the new Women's Center is Manager of Community Programs at Sanford Health, Siri Thaden.
Siri Thaden: Thank you for having me. We recently opened our new Women's Center at our Southpointe Clinic in South Fargo, and its purpose is to make the navigation of the health system easier. The goal is to assist women in finding the right provider and services for their individual health needs and preferences. This service is meant to promote the health and wellness of women by providing them the most effective and comprehensive care possible.
Valley News Live: What are some ways the women's center helps patients during the process?
Thaden: The women's center will have wellness guides, to assist women with establishing a primary care provider, and help being matched to classes, resources and events at Sanford that fit their needs. It also provides maps and directions to Sanford locations and answers any basic questions regarding health care and health care terminology.
Valley News Live: How does a patient get started with a wellness guide?
Thaden: To start the process, each woman will be directed to take an online health needs assessment. A wellness guide will then create a custom itinerary that best meets her unique needs and preferences. The wellness guide will answer all the patient's questions and assist them along their health care journey. The wellness guide will then contact the patient with their results via email, phone, in-person, or via video visit, depending on the patient's preference.
