Salvation Army adds modern twist to Red Kettle Campaign

FARGO, ND (Valley News Live)-- The Salvation Army is adding a modern twist to a classic way to give during the holidays.

Donating is going mobile.

Codes will be placed on all 33 kettles in the Fargo-Moorhead area.

People that want to donate, but don't carry cash or checks, can scan the code and it will take you to a website.

The goal is to make donating more convenient.

"We are going to a cashless society. Everyone relies on their credit cards," Kristie Simmons, Salvation Army Volunteer and Public Relations Coordinator, says. "Everyone always has their phones. We just want to make sure they have a route to donate if they choose."

They still need ringers, if you're interested in volunteering for the kettle season.
