Red River boys hockey coach put on indefinite administrative leave

The Red River boys hockey coach, Bill Chase, was placed on indefinite administrative leave Tuesday morning before the game against West Fargo.

Chase is still working with children at South Middle School in Grand Forks, despite being put on leave.

Activities Director Mark Rerick says he can’t tell us why Chase was put on leave, but says they made the best decision for the student athletes.

An interim coach took the place of Chase during Tuesday nights game, leading the Red River Roughriders to another win.

“Our kids have been pretty resilient. I think the response last night from our kids were pretty solid,” says Rerick.

Rerick says the kids played around the distraction and responded well to the transition.

The interm coach will finish the season for the Roughriders.
