Police warning of a kidnapping scam

JAMESTOWN, ND (Valley News Live) - Jamestown Police Department is warning of a scam.

Around 1 p.m. Tuesday, Stutsman County Dispatch received a call about a possible kidnapping at the Jamestown Walmart.

The man reported his daughter had been kidnapped and he was on the phone with the abductor.

Officials say the man reported hearing a female screaming in the background and the abductor was asking for money to get his daughter back.

After investigating, officials determined the call was a scam to extort money.

The man's daughter was contacted and determined to be ok.

Officials say the man has a medical emergency and had to the hospital because of the incident.
