Police say found gun has no connection to the death of Andrew Sadek

UPDATE: Chief Steve Thorsteinson with the Wahpeton Police Department says the rusted out gun that was found in Breckenridge on Saturday is a 357 magnum revolver.

Chief Thorsteinson says the gun was found at 2:30 Saturday evening along the Red River between Breckenridge and Wahpeton by someone who was out fishing.

People living in the area of where the gun was found, were concerned that it was tied to the high profile case surrounding the death of Andrew Sadek.

Sadek was a 20-year-old NDSCS student that was found dead in the Red River back in 2014. His body was found to the north of the discovery of the gun, with a gunshot wound to the head.

Chief Thorsteinson has confirmed with Valley News Live that the gun has no connection to Andrew's death. The gunshot wound on Andrew is believed to be from a 22 Caliber weapon. That weapon still has not been located.
