Update: Police investigating pedestrian versus train accident in downtown Fargo

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - UPDATE: Police are trying to figure out what led up to a deadly pedestrian-train accident in downtown Fargo. It happened at Roberts Street and 6th Avenue North around 11 Thursday night.

Officers found a man's body with significant trauma near the tracks. It's an area with no marked crossings.

Police are not releasing the victim's name until the victim's family is notified.

05/16/19 11:45 p.m. -- Police have confirmed that the investigation is a pedestrian versus train fatality.

The call came in around 11 p.m. Thursday. Police say when crews arrived on the scene of 6th Avenue North and Broadway in downtown Fargo to find the body of a deceased person.

The scene is located behind the recycling center off of 4th Avenue North. They would not confirm the gender of the victim.

Investigators say they are working with BNSF and its employees during this investigation. No trains will be running while crews are on scene.

However, a train will be sitting across Broadway on the north side of downtown Fargo. Expect traffic delays if you're heading north on Broadway, police say.
