NBC - Petco is offering free trade ins for dog foods affected by the vitamin D recall.
Following the FDA's recall of multiple dry dog foods due to elevated vitamin D, Petco says it does not carry any of the brands listed in the current recall.
For consumers who have a product affected by the recall, Petco will exchange it for free and upgrade it for a similar size bag of Petco's Wholehearted Dog Food.
Earlier this week the FDA recalled several dry dogs foods with potentially toxic levels of vitamin D.
Pet parents looking for guidance on what to feed their pets can consult with associates at their local Petco stores or visit petco.com for pet food and nutrition information.
Petco recently announced that it will stop selling dog and cat foods and treats with artificial colors, flavors and preservatives by May 2019.
