Fargo,ND (Valley News Live) - The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality has been notified about a produced water and oil spill in Williams County.
The spill occurred as a result of an overflowing tank near Williston on a Well Pad owned by Kraken Operating.
Initial estimates say that about 200 barrels of produced water, which is a byproduct of oil and gasoline development, were released with 10 barrels moving off of the well pad which impacted the rangeland.
Crude oil and the produced water flowed from the heater and into a production tank, which caused the overflow.
Officials are investigating the site and will continue to monitor the remediation.
