North Dakota man in custody after police chase through Northern Valley

POLK COUNTY, Minn. (Valley News Live) - A North Dakota man is in custody after police chase through the Northern Valley early Monday morning.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. the Polk County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a report of a man sleeping in his vehicle at an intersection of Highway 2 west of Mentor, MN.

Deputies responded to the area, but the vehicle had already left the scene.

Deputies then located the suspect's vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, and that's when the vehicle took off and a chase started.

The pursuit continued east on Highway 2 to the Mentor area.

Deputies were joined in the chase by Minnesota State Patrol and the Red Lake County Sheriff's Office.

A trooper was able to stop the vehicle, and 24-year old Brady Werre of Minot was taken into custody with no further incident.

No injuries were reported.
