A new restaurant is coming to Fargo and will be located downtown. Daran's Southern Soul Food and West Indian Cuisine will move into the old Border Cities Service located on 30 North University Drive.

The restaurant will serve southern and Caribbean food like grits and pork chops according to it's owner Darrel Randle. The average plate will cost about $11 to $13.

It's been Randle's dream along with his wife's to open a restaurant and they decided in 2016 to make it happen. Randle is from Miami, Florida and his wife Celena is from Brooklyn, New York. The two moved to North Dakota in 2011 because it was a better environment to raise their five children.

The name Daran's actually comes from the first initial of each of their five children's names. The husband and wife were working out of Square One Kitchen from November to March, where they made meals and did catering for parties.

Currently the couple is working on perfecting their menu for when their restaurant opens at the end of July. Daran's will be open from Tuesday through Sunday.
